This medium-bodied red is an homage to the Southern Pacific steel caboose that came with HLV. Built in 1941 to transport train staff, the caboose was brought to the property in the 1970s on a flat-bed trailer pulled by a bulldozer and installed on real train tracks and ties. In disrepair when we bought HLV, it's now been refurbished into a library and sipping room - a special place to remember Lisa's dad (the leader) and grandpa, a caboose engineer for 40 years. Jammy summer fruit in the aroma; blackberry, spiced plum, and oregano on the palate.
